Great healthy, cheap, creative AND physically active hobby that is nature photography! One must come at least once a season to see and notice the changes!
A good drive away from central Sydney, this Botanical Garden has open spaces of native Australian trees, plants and wildlife set around water creeks and lakes. It's a picturesque escape to explore and enjoy and even go for a bbq, picnic and a nice walk. There's public restrooms available as well as BBQs and picnic tables. There's also plenty of free parking along the way.
The Australian Botanical Gardens situated on 416 hectares of land in Mount Annan (Yandel'ora) with 4000 different plant species and is home to the Australian Plant Bank. It was opened on 2 Oct 1988 and was originally part of the land granted to magistrate William Howe. There such a diverse array of beautiful plants, shrubs, ponds, sculptures and lakes for the flora and fauna. Has very wide concrete paths that are easy to traverse in the lower parts but quite steep in other sections. The gardens are gorgeous any of year and very well maintained. It is especially beautiful in Spring with its renown Wild flower display of paper daisies usually in yellow white and pink colours. The garden has many areas for picnics some with BBQ facilities. There is so much to explore in this wonderful garden.
This is such a gem of a garden. It is full of walking and riding tracks, there is something for everyone. There are accessible areas of the garden as well as more rugged trails for more adventure. There is always something to explore. Lots of wildlife and clean public facilities available. Very crowded at holiday times but there is plenty of room for all. It is very well maintained and in non-covid times has a nice cafe and programs for kids.
Absolutely stunning place to get that feeling of being away from Sydney. To get some serenity and feel alive. Very well maintained and both the walking and mtb trails are winners. It’s always a breath of fresh air!
