We ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken, Stir-Fried Mixed Vegetables, and their signature dish, Ginger Beef. Everything was outstanding in terms of quality, portion size, and price. The Sweet and Sour Chicken leaned slightly more on the sour side than the sweet. The vegetables were cooked to perfection with a nice hint of garlic. The Ginger Beef was incredibly tender, cut into fry-like strips, battered, and deep-fried, then coated in a light sauce that started off sweet and gingery, followed by a ginger heat that caught me by surprise. We left extremely satisfied and had enough leftovers for another meal.
This was our second visit to the Old Elevator while we were in Fernie, and it did not disappoint! We ordered ginger beef, salt and pepper shrimp, and wonton soup, and everything was excellent—truly the best ginger beef I have ever tasted! I think this is my favorite spot for Chinese food, and I only wish they had a location in my hometown. We will definitely return the next time we're in town!
We stumbled across The Old Elevator off the main drag in Fernie and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the dinner for two which ended up being more food than we could handle. It reminded us of the Chinese Food we used to get growing up in Montreal. Highly recommended and I wish them well the owner said she just opened 3.5 months ago.
I found the food to be pretty bland and basic. Ordered the meal for two and it just felt so cheap for what we paid, like something that came from a microwaveable meal. I wouldn't order there again.
The people are fairly nice. Maybe we went on an off day. The food was good, but not the greatest. It just seemed sort of bland and lacking sauces. Very quite place however it was clean and tidy. With not many Chinese options I would go again.
