Dooks Fine Food - Fethard

I had a wonderful experience at this beautiful and cozy café with amazing food and friendly staff. My Saturday afternoon was truly enjoyable.

My mother and I had a wonderful lunch in Dooks.We had previously by chance come across this gem of a restaurant the previous week. We traveled from Co Limerick and my mom in her couldn’t wait to pay another visit the following week.The food was absolutely scrumptious. I am a coeliac and the service and the advice we got was second to none. . The staff were so pleasant and professional. The food so tasty and different and so fresh and organic. The restaurant is so transparent you can see the chefs at work and so so clean. I can not praise this restaurant enough.We have ordered our Christmas cakes and I have ordered a gluten free one. My mom can’t wait to collect them another visit to her favourite restaurant where each time she visits she buys more pots of Dooks crab apple jelly jam the nicest she says she has ever had! That’s a big statement from a year old! Wish we had a restaurant like this near us.

Three of us went here for breakfast. We have been here numerous times since they opened the restaurant and unfortunately the same problems persist. The positives are that the food, while overpriced, is very nice and well presented. The coffee is also good but generally served lukewarm. The ambience is very nice and the communal tables are good for larger groups. However, from day one the service has been chaotic to say the least. One allows for a certain amount of teething problems when a new establishment opens but Dooks has been in business now for several years and the same service problems persist. The staff all appear to be untrained. Most give the impression of college students doing weekend work. For example if you order coffee and a scone the coffee comes first and is stone cold by the time the food arrives. Similarly, the coffee will come without a spoon and the scone will come without a knife. As for trying to catch a server’s eye, it’s impossible ! All of this goes on under the eye of the proprietor who appears to be oblivious to it all. Why can’t they get their act together?

Gorgeous food, friendly staff and really reasonably priced. Very impressed!!
