I'm not talking about the late morning breakfasts, which are too heavy, but rather the ones that the locals in Morocco are accustomed to. You have to wake up early, like them, and enjoy the various Moroccan products offered until dawn. There are pastries of all shapes and sizes, sweet, savory, bitter, and everything in between. They have churros, cakes, breads, and you can watch them being made right in front of you in just a few minutes. In the summer, it's best to take early morning walks and relax in the afternoon at your hotel to escape the heat, just like the locals do. Everyone refers to it the same way, pointing with their index finger.
The Moroccan bread is exceptional, with a variety of traditional types to choose from. The most famous is tafarnout or afanou, made in a clay oven and flattened by hand to create a round shape. Other types include r'ghayef, mlawi, axe, and batbot. This bread is easily torn by hand and does not require a knife to cut. It is delicious on its own, or paired with sweet treats made with almonds, dates, and honey as a sweetener.
