Dinner menu is focussed towards meat eaters but we had lovely fish and vegetarian dishes. As it is fixed price for 2 courses at dinner then it does seem expensive for non meat eaters especially when adding in cost of side dishes. Food was lovely though and beautifully presented. Great views over the golf course and up to the buildings of St Andrews itself.
Beautiful restaurant with views of the gold course and North Sea. Food and service were absolutely wonderful
Whatever you order, don’t pick the pizza! It was awful and looked like something a child had made. Zero flavour. Cheese grated and dashed on in a basic way. Quite salty. No flavour or depth to the tomato sauce at all. A poor experience and probably the worst pizza I’ve ever ordered. The lunch was saved only by the view and the impeccable service of the lovely, friendly, welcoming staff throughout the resort. I would not have lunch there again, but I would return for drinks and cocktails with a nice view.
This restaurant is very pleasant, with a welcoming staff. We were unable to appreciate the view during our dinner, so we returned the next day to the bar for a coffee. We tried the rib-eye, which was prepared perfectly to our liking. The two glasses of wine we ordered were unfortunately too warm, but the sommelier kindly replaced them without any issues.
We went to the restaurant for a special Christmas meal. The food was excellent and we had no complaints about it. However, the service from the staff was disappointing. They seemed inexperienced and inattentive, which detracted from our overall dining experience. Our coats were carelessly hung over the back of our chairs, our wine was poured and left on another table without refills, and our cote de boeuf was served ungracefully. The waiter was unsure of our drink orders and seemed unfamiliar with some items on the menu. The restaurant played quiet Christmas music, but lacked a welcoming atmosphere. The overall appearance of the hotel and restaurant was in need of some maintenance. Unfortunately, this will be our last visit here as there are many other fantastic dining options nearby. The prices of the menu did not match the mediocre experience we had. The Old Course restaurant must step up their game.
