The fish and chips were served in just 3 minutes, much faster than our local fish and chip shop. However, the barramundi portion was quite small. The taste was okay, but the serving size was not satisfying, only two bites. The tartare sauce was delicious. The quick service, with our meal finished in just 11 minutes, was impressive but felt more like fast food. They did apologize and bring out another serving promptly when we mentioned our dissatisfaction. The price of a beer at $12 was a bit steep for the outback location. It would be great if they held a beer festival with better marketing. Overall, the restaurant itself was great.
The service is a bit slow and average. The ambiance is generic and lacks character. There is some competition that may be encouraging average results.
The restaurant is not at all like the pictures show! The food is basic pub quality and overpriced for the limited options. Woolshed is a much better choice. We were very disappointed with the service and having to pay $35 for counter service. Wilpena needs to step up their game.
10 of us ate at Poddy Dodgers, great to have a large table and a menu for all (including gluten-free options). No Michelin star likely in the future, but perfect for if you want a night of cooking with many options... also for drinks.
Our our first night at Wilpena Pound, we decided to eat here, they have happy hour between 5 and 6pm wine and beer $5.00, so we went then had a lovely meal beside the fire place nice and cosy and the price was...not too expensive. The staff were very friendly, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
