I felt like we were part of a parade when we walked in and sat down. Getting the stare down I didn't know what to do so I waved hello and ordered a drink. The bar is a big large circle so it's easy to interact with everyone there. We kept to ourselves, had a drink and left. I didn't notice any specialty drinks that I like, so I ordered a Blur Moon. The orange I was given with it was mushy. Grossed out I told the bartender who gave me a fresh pint and a fresh orange. They are located right on Lake Winnebago NE of FDL. I'm not sure I would come back here, on purpose anyway.
They serve delicious food, and I'm a big fan of their bone-in wings. The recently added patio and tiki hut-style bar overlooking Lake Winnebago is the best in the area. They have live music throughout the summer, and the staff is very friendly. Plus, their drinks are fantastic!
We were served by two young women, one of whom was in training, and they were exceptionally attentive and friendly—truly a fantastic example of excellent customer service. When they learned it was my father's birthday, they surprised him with a special brownie dessert that brought a huge smile to his face, and we hadn’t even asked for it! There was a small issue with my son's entree, but they took it upon themselves to replace it without hesitation. They even took a group photo of us to commemorate the occasion. The food was delicious, but it was the outstanding service from these two young ladies that left a lasting impression and will definitely make us want to return.
Pete M's review perfectly captures the situation when he pointed out that many restaurants in this town offer an overwhelming number of choices on their menus. It's hard for any restaurant to excel at so many different dishes, yet Fondulac seems to be trying to cater to every palate. The cheese curds were decent, and the chicken tenders tasted like they were frozen rather than freshly made—just passable. However, the French onion soup was quite good, as was the tilapia served on wild rice. The Wisconsin-style old fashioned I had before dinner was also decent in quality, though it came in a generous portion. The restaurant has a fantastic location right by the lake, with a lovely patio for outdoor dining. I prefer to stay bug-free, and I enjoyed a nice view through a large window inside. The service was excellent, although the restaurant wasn't very busy at the time.
This is a lovely spot by the lake. The patio offers a fantastic view, making it the perfect summer destination. Maria, the owner, genuinely values your opinion. Years ago, the Sunset was an elegant supper club known for its outstanding food and drinks. While it has shifted to more casual bar fare nowadays, the food remains quite enjoyable. The service is generally good, and there's ample parking available. The unbeatable aspect, however, is the scenic view and location. If you're searching for a great place to relax and have some fun, you won’t be let down.
