The service is friendly and efficient. But, let's talk about the food. The menu changes with the seasons and the chef's mood, so don't expect your favorite dish from 3 months ago to be exactly the same the next time you visit. The dishes are smaller, but enough for 2-4 people to share and enjoy a few bites each. This is not a place for set meals with sides; the idea is to order multiple smaller dishes in a tapas style. While everything on the menu is pretty good, it's not exceptional. It's difficult to leave Michy's without spending between $40-$80 per person, depending on how much you eat and whether you order a drink (and that doesn't include the $5 for valet parking). For that price, each dish should be consistently excellent, and in my opinion, it's just not worth the money for the "fame" factor over the "flavor" factor.
During a busy Saturday night, my husband and I dined at Michy's with friends. It is advisable to make reservations in advance to secure a good table inside. We started with a cheese plate and blue cheese croquettes, both paired with a delicious fig marmalade. The main courses, including steak frites and pasta, were well-cooked but not exceptional. The portions seemed small for the hungry men in our group. Fortunately, I enjoyed the truffled polenta and pork belly dishes, which were rich and flavorful. Overall, the ambiance, food, and service at Michy's were decent but not outstanding. I would consider returning to try other dishes, such as seared foie gras, duck confit, and short ribs, in a better-lit indoor setting. However, I might leave my husband with his less adventurous palate at home next time to fully savor the meal without any teasing about the bill.
