Finally, the only thing I specifically asked was not done. I asked to be at a table we sat in and after 20-30 minutes I was literally at the only table in the sun.
Love this place is my 'go to' for a good lunch or dinner in fontainebleau. privately run, independent minded, it is all they want from a large French restaurant. in winter, cozy inside, in summer, the best terrace in the city. a good choice, good...prices and always many veggie options. beautiful team, hard work, the owner is hands on and takes care of delicious food. I read the other reviews and they do not reflect anything I have ever experienced. try it.
Had dinner at L’air du Temps with some friends two days ago. Duck dish had to be sent back twice because it was served cold when in fact it was supposed to be hot. Two salmon dishes were extremely undercooked. A gluten free salad arrived...with bread in eat. Lastly, one of the salads we ordered had the label from the salad bag mixed into the salad. Service was poor as well. The owner of L’air du Temps did not seem to care much about our complaints. Very unusual for a individually owned French restaurant. One of our friends had ordered a birthday cake for her sister which was supposed to be prepared by the in house pastry chef. Rather than letting us know that the pastry chef was unavailable that night, the owner of the restaurant purchased a cake at a local bakery for €35. We know the price because we checked with the local bakery. The owner of the restaurant charged us €120 for the cake. He later admitted that he had purchased the cake for €35 rather than having his pastry chef make one yet, he would not adjust the price accordingly. We offered to pay a reasonable price for service of the cake, but he would not hear of it. As we were leaving the restaurant after this horrible experience, he even chased after us because he forgot to include a bottle of wine on our tab. So many reasons to STAY AWAY from this restaurant. But not to worry! Lots of other great places to eat in Fontainebleau run by owners who actually care about providing great service and food to their clientele.
We waited quite a while for food that was neither tasty nor nicely presented. Very unFrench. While the food was edible, I cannot say anything good beyond this
It is a small unassuming place with seating outside and in. The menu is limited, but delivers beyond your expectations. I had a smoked salmon starter that was wonderful. And then the fish special was great. Much more than a typical bistro. Foodies will be...happy here.
