I have been a frequent visitor to Tandoori Mahal since I live close by. It has maintained its standards and it has actually improved very much in the last 5 years. The customer service is always polite and warm. A few of my friends actually come from Springfield Lakes to dine here quite frequently.
I dined here on Wednesday 19th August 2015, with my wife. The location was handy and close to our home. The restaurant was nicely laid out and inviting. The walls were decorated with brightly-coloured large canvas wall posters portraying Punjabi village life and Punjabi movie scenes. The chairs were comfortable and covered with elegant white linen covers with maroon bows. The tablecloths matched the colours of the chairs. Our entree was their Tandoori Mahal Combination which had 2 onion pakoras, 2 aloo bhondas (potato patties), a piece of chicken tikka and a piece of seekh kabab. It was served with mint sauce and tomato sauce. This platter, with its varied flavours, proved to be very tasty and satisfying. We were also given four complimentary pappadums at the start. Our mango lassi drinks were thick, creamy and delicious. Our main meal comprised Chicken Shahjaha (mild spicy) and Badami Lamb (medium spicy). These were served with complimentary rice spiced with cummin seeds. The Chicken Shahjaha was delightful, well marinated and cooked with cashew paste and scrambled egg. The Badami Lamb consisted of diced lamb pieces cooked in a yoghurt and almond gravy. The pieces of lamb were chunky cubes coated with the sauce, but the flavour of the gravy had not penetrated to the inside of the meat. The Badami Lamb was less satisfying as it seemed that the precooked lamb pieces were added to the gravy during cooking but not marinated well enough.Overall we enjoyed our dining experience. Occasionally, Bollywood song clips were screened on the overhead television but this was not too loud or intrusive. When we arrived at 6:30 p.m. we were the only two diners, and by the time we left at 8:30 p.m., there were just two other diners. However, takeaways and home deliveries seemed brisk business.
Find, the food here is top-notch. The flavors are authentic and the dishes are delicious. My favorites are the butter chicken and the lamb korma. The service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend giving SpiceIn Indian a try if you're in the mood for some flavorful Indian cuisine.
I accidentally stumbled upon this Indian restaurant located in a shopping complex in Oxley. On weekends, they have a lunch buffet for $16.
