And I wish they could have just duplicated what the former owners did. Still highly recommended just not the same as it used to be.Food: 4/5
This place is the best! The food is amazing they make many of the meats in house (corned beef, turkey etc), the sandwich combos are amazing and pack so much flavor! I also love the veggie burger (made in house), salads and soups! So nice that a sandwich place has other options too! The beer selection is very well thought out and the cocktails are creative and very tasty! All the people that work there are so nice and attentive and plus your food/drinks come out super fast! The new owners have done a fabulous job of cleaning the place and restoring it to it 's former glory. I especially love that they hung the old sign from out front right in the bar. PS it 's a great place to watch sports!! Go check it out!
First time I have eaten here and it was great. I like the layout inside and service was quick and they brought it right to the table. My sandwich was awesome, I had the tummy pleaser. Definitely coming backFood: 5/5
I was overall disappointed. I've given this place several tries with the hopes that they'll redeem themselves but I haven't seen much improvement. Pickle Barrel holds a special place in my heart. I really want to see it succeed. But the truth is, it's not even a remotely as delicious. The food is bland and the pickles... Well, I've never met a pickle I didn't like until now. What I don't understand is why change a good thing? I understand that the new owners want to put their own flare to things but this just isn't how you do that with an establishment as well known and popular as the Pickle Barrel. People go to Pickle Barrel expecting OG Pickle Barrel. Not something new, they want something familiar, they want their tried and true favorites. You just can't do a complete 180 in a restaurant that has been a staple in this community for decades. People have a certain expectation for the quality of food from Pickle Barrel. If this was a new restaurant, people are much more opened minded. You keep things the same and slowly introduce new ideas. Measure the customer's reaction to new ideas and base your changes off of that. Also, don't mess with the pickle game.I really do want to see the new ownership succeed. I also want my favorite sandwich shop back. I would be remiss if I didn't voice my opinion and judging by many other comments, I know I am not alone with this.I really do hope that the new owners will reconsider their menu changes. Don't change a good thing, just add to it. I'd hate to see Pickle Barrel close for good.
I’ve been waiting to review, hoping things would improve, and they have….a little. The pickles are still awful. And I wonder why you changed them? When people comment on that, the reply is that they weren’t made “in house” before. Well if no one likes them now, why are they made in house? Also, when someone states the sandwiches don’t taste the same, the response is that the previous owner approved of the changes. But why change at all? It’s what everyone loved. And the second owners kept the recipes the same as the first. Why couldn’t the third owners do the same? The first Funky after reopen was so disappointing. I can’t tell you how different it was. The second was better, but as someone else said, it was just an average sandwich. Not the perfect, delicious, flavorful, juicy sandwich it used to be that left my hands a mess. I miss that sandwich so much!
