Rare Italian - Fort Collins

My party experienced a long wait for service, but the waiter apologized and it did not affect our overall experience. We ordered the dry-aged hamburger from the happy hour menu, which was both affordable and delicious. I also tried the ragú, which was a decent dish with well-prepared pasta, though the sauce and meat were just okay. I found the overall dish slightly bland, but appreciated the standout rosemary flavor. The restaurant itself is stunning, and I enjoyed the peaceful, non-noisy atmosphere.

Well worth the money. This restaurant exceeded our expectations. The service was great, atmosphere was fun and romantic, and the food was amazing. We were raving about it to our friends. We had the pork belly, dry aged new york strip and the lobster risotto. All were amazing. We also loved that we could get a carafe of wine, felt like we were back in Italy.

The food and service was exceptional. The steaks are incredible. The lasagna great. Overall wonderful dining experience. We will for sure go back.

I need to update my review, and don't get me wrong, we absolutely love RARE. This was our seventh visit. On Monday, December 11, 2023, at 8:00 PM (I'm including the date and time as I know the restaurant has cameras and might want to verify this themselves), we arrived to celebrate my pregnant wife's birthday, her favorite place. We had a reservation and were initially seated at a table near the reception, close to the front door. Unfortunately, the height of the table was uncomfortable for my wife as it pressed against her belly. We requested to move to one of the several empty booths, and the staff graciously accommodated us, relocating us just four meters away. However, following this move, our experience took a turn for the worse. Our waiter, a young man with long hair, seemed to deliberately ignore us. It was about 25 to 30 minutes, and only after I raised my voice, that he finally approached to take our order. This was surprising and disappointing, especially since we've always experienced exceptional service at RARE, with attentive staff frequently checking in. This incident left us both shocked and upset. My wife, in particular, was saddened by the experience. Given the high prices at RARE, we expect service that matches the quality of the food, which has always been excellent. Our friend, who has joined us on previous visits, was also displeased with the service this time. We are now reconsidering if RARE will remain our favorite restaurant. It's sad because the food continues to be outstanding, but the service on this occasion was a letdown.

Had a fantastic dinner with friends here, great atmosphere, the steaks were incredible, the pasta was amazing and the wine was the perfect pairing (and 50% off on Sundays! . Our server and food was excellent (which is what matters most , the service for anything else was a little shy of excellent. Our appetizer came with 3 pieces of bread for a table of 4 adults, we asked for additional bread and it took 15 minutes and when our food was boxed up they didn’t include the extra butter nor the vegetables. Otherwise, excellent restaurant and would definitely eat here again!
