The best thing I can say about this place is that it is off the main drag and away from the touristy, glitzy areas that charge an arm and a leg for dining. Hence, this place is not pretentious or snooty like some of the other Indian restaurants. It is a simple, laid back place where the waiters do not hesitate to converse in Hindi and are warm and polite. However, the menu and the food itself is as generic as every other Indian restaurant of this type in the entire USA. This one was particularly bad because the two subzis we ordered were swimming in oil. The bhindi had many pakka bhindis in it and the baingan bharta had no taste of baingan. The Indian restaurants in the USA use a certain kind of flour for the breads that make them without any flavor or bite. Also, unlike most Indian restaurants, this place willingly brought a plate of papads and chutneys to start with. The dahi papdi chaat was disappointing in that there was no sign of papdi, it was all chana.
Very rude staff, no courtesy at all. We were standing in line for 30 minutes and ordered food worth of $82. We wanted to buy curry but the lady at the counter said curry will take few more minutes to come. In few minutes the guy brought the curry and I told to this lady now you can give me curry, the lady at the counter was so rough and she told me I have to go back in line again. I told her I can not stand anymore as I am diabetics but she said no you have to go in line. I almost threw my $80 food I bought from there on her face. Very rude staff. I do not know if owner pays them salary or not that his staff is showing anger in the customers.
I almost don't want to tell so many people about this place because I want it all for myself but this place is amazing. It's a paradox because we eat totally vegan most of the time but when there's goat curry this good there is just no stopping. Fantastic food, reasonable prices and super, super nice people.
This Indian restaurant is a bit out of the way and the look is dated but the food is good. The Sunday night buffet offers an interesting selection at a reasonable price. Service is minimal.
