Tropical Acres Steakhouse

I am not a huge steak fan, but my husband is. This is one of the few places I will very happily eat a filet. The meat is high quality, perfectly seasoned and prepared. We had a fantastic dinner tonite, started with the French onion soup, the best locally. The little rolls are awesome. Rich ordered the tomahawk steak and it was beyond words. Huge, cut like butter, so full of flavor. I had quite a few bites, yum!! We've always had excellent service, their staff are real professionals. Arthur (and Laura) were no exception. Personable, helpful, constantly checking in on us. I'm looking forward to going back.

I first reviewed this restaurant on June 9th and it was a 3 based on the meals 4 of us had that night. The manager, running the class act that I think Tropical Acres is, contacted me and ask for a second chance since they had just reopened after a fire and he was working on improving the quality of their meat. Now it is July 27th and there has been some improvement. My wife had the Steak Au Poivre, which is a NY Strip med. rare with a tasty sauce on it with baked potato and a Cesar salad. It was cooked perfectly and was very tender a 5 .. I had the 25 ounce Porterhouse med. rare with creamed spinach and a salad. The fillet side, though a little small, was perfect a 5 . The NY Strip side a 3 was cooked perfectly but to be Prime meat it was too chewy and, being cooked over a gas flame grill with I think the flame turned up too high, it had a gassy, bitter taste that covered up the flavor of the meat. Charcoal smoke is good. Gas smoke, like from a rich running engine, is bad. I am sure they are still trying to solve some issues and will eventually get it as great as it used to be. Being a customer for 30 years, I will still recommend this restaurant to everyone. We will be back.

My fiancé and I had a wonderful dinner and they served us this awesome homemade cake for dessert. I would highly recommend this dinner establishment!

I've been there so many times and have never been disappointed. The food is consistant and the prices are great. It's a pleasant, family place.

We took out the New Year's Eve special menu. Food was fabulous and the price was excellent. Great value for the money. Definitely would do it again.
