Atmosphere was fun with a direct view of beach/water. Our family of 4 all ordered items from separate areas of the menu and were not disappointed with any of it. The food was very good. We found our dining experience extremely enjoyable and look forward to returning soon. Family friendly for young children.
My wife and I with 3 year old and 9 year old went for a casual dinner her birthday too but whose saying. I am in the business, but not intimately anymore so I am a forgiving customer. The waitress was more interested in taking her next smoke break, with her cheesy shorts and tattooed butt. More than I wanted to see for a casual Oceanside dining experience. My Fried Grouper was pre frozen, prepped far in advance, breaded and overcooked in a major way for 17.99? Please! No famous beer batter or the like here. Frozen ****. A few fries and some blanched veggies. My wife's fish chips were greasier than I would have ever imagined possible...they were brown, like dark brown. Refills were offered as a luxury that I should have been thankful for. Zero service, way overpriced food and diner style presentations...please go anywhere but this place while in Fort Myers. Darn, I should have bummed a cig from my waitress...cuz the one course meal for a family of four cost me 75.00 bucks, with 16% tip. Yikes! Bad bad!!
My first experience with Junkanoo's was absolutely horrid. The staff did not seem to know which way was up, the restrooms I wouldn't let my dog use, and the food was terrible. When I spoke to the manager about it, all he offered were free cocktails. Overall it was lousy and I would not recommend it to anyone!
This review isn 't about the food. I 've never eaten a thing at Junkanoo 's. I go there for the atmosphere, the view, the staff and the cooooold beer. I 'm in Fort Meyers Beach for 10 days a year, usually at the end of March. We spend all day on the beach and then right around 3pm, my father, my brother-in-law and I head for Junkanoo 's. You walk in off the beach into a huge bar that 's completely open to the gulf. The view is wonderful, the sea air blows through the entire bar and keeps the cigarette smoke from being annoying. The bartenders are mostly young women, all attractive, all very friendly. The male bartenders range in age from 20 's-50 's and all are genuinely friendly and engaging. Live music is often performed in the afternoon, mostly laid-back rockers and cover bands but good music and not too loud. The patrons range from senior citizens (like my dad) to Harley riders and you feel comfortable bellying up to the bar next to anyone and having a good conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. I can 't recommend Junkanoo 's highly enough. The only downside is getting there. If you 're already on the island, you can take a trolley or if you 're close enough, take a leisurely stroll along the gulf to the bar. If you have to cross the bridge, be prepared for looooong lines of cars all trying to cram onto the two-lane main road of FMB. Coming from the north end you can expect at least 45 minutes in traffic to go about 3 miles. Coming from the south is usually quicker but unless you 're coming from Bonita or Coral it 's probably quicker to just bite the bullet and come in from the north. One more note: If you want to experience Junkanoo 's you should hurry. Last year we were told that it was being sold and would be torn down and replaced with condos some time in 2006. In my opinion, that 's a crime against humanity but you can 't stop ;progress ;.
Order 2 rum runners. They were barely flavored crushed ice.
