Amazing place with beautiful view from the bar, delicious eating and really good beer.
We arrived an hour before closing (7:30pm) and were refused service when there were tables available outside for seating. Knowing that this area of Tasmania is remote with few options, it is ridiculous that they would turn people away. This saves us a trip back on the way out and hopefully others that are curious on how this establishment treats potential patrons. Shame on you.
Very kind staff with great view and plenty of light. The food is nice, based on local products, including the brewery beer and the lambs grazing all around.Their Pale Ale deserves the stop.Service could be a bit faster though.
We came here on Christmas Eve while driving along the east coast after staying in Bicheno and they're not being much to do. It had been an overcast day and we were lucky the sun came out as we got there. The restaurant was fairly busy inside (ie. families with small children but the enormous deck had some chairs and tables, so we sat outside. We each had a glass of the Iron House riesling (was nice, but I wasn't super impressed with Tasmanian rieslings and shared the dirty bird chicken burger and salt and pepper calamari. Oh wow! So glad we decided to have lunch here. The food was absolutely delicious and possibly the best meal of our trip. The pieces of calamari were HUGE, very fresh and not at all chewy. The chef definitely knew how to cook calamari. The salad was really yummy and nicely dressed, the chips were hot and crunchy. The chicken burger was also very good my only critique is there was so much sauce, it was very messy to eat. (I personally am also really, really over brioche burger buns, it was a bit sweet for the burger with all that sauce. My husband didn't mind it. This is what good pub food should be like not trying to be fancy, just **** good food. Thank you! Service here was also really friendly, no faults there. Wish we lived nearby so we could come back regularly!
