El Garage

El Garage is great for drinks and some sports. I go there frequently with my girlfriend. Friday and Saturday nights it turns into a party bar, so if that is not your thing avoid it those days and times.

El Garage used be a quaint Mexican bar and restaurant in Nogales called Chevys. They had outstanding margaritas and the Chevy's nachos were incredible. About a year ago, they remodeled the place. Atmosphere is like an Applebees in the US. Food is OK but the margaritas are the same size as before but have lost their punch. When it was Chevys you would order a margarita and the waiter or waitress would bring a bottle of tequila to the table and float another shot or two on top of the drink. That doesn't happened any more. Food is just average bar fare now. There aren't many restaurants in the area immediately across the border. So it kind of wins by default. Its still Ok to go to and have a Mexican lunch but its lost a lot of its character.
