The lighting was too white and harsh and the decor very simple creating an ambiance that did not fit my expectations. We got the charcuterie board for an appetizer and a bottle of wine. The appetizer was enjoyable, but the main courses were OK at best.My wife got the filet and said that the sauce covering the meat and dish was way too salty (I did not try it). I got the braised beef, a favorite dish of mine, served over risotto. The risotto was underdone and in some places a little crunchy. The braised beef was too tough and the flavor overall was mediocre. We were overall a little disappointed.
Tomfoolery and poor decisions run rampant in this Frankfort establishment. Who is in charge? Are the 22 year old kids working there? Is it the staunch, mean faced hostess, that offers no solutions, only excuses ? While the food is fair and pricing reasonable the general attitude of the staff is oh well, there will be someone else in soon. From the recent looks of things, possibly not.
Ever heard of a Food Expeditor ? Wine Thief is in desperate need of one. No one there knows how to coordinate the work flow between the waitstaff and kitchen. Zero proper prioritization of orders. Terrible.
The Wine Thief is under new ownership and has only gotten better.Had lunch al fresco with some girlfriends, ordered the BLT, Avocado toast, Cobb salad and the French Dip. Everything was absolutely delicious and our service was delightful.
This was our first time coming and we really had high hopes. We looked at the menu online and were really excited about ceviche, shrimp and grits, and a couple other dishes. When we got to the restaurant, the menu was entirely different. To the point that if the updated menu was online we probably wouldn 't have come. We chose to sit outside because the bluegrass fest was going on and the waitstaff was helpful and friendly. It was kind of annoying that they had their own music playing on the patio instead of letting the music from the fest be the centerpiece. The only thing we actually like that we ordered was the corn chowder. It was so flavorful and good. We ordered the thai chicken meatballs...they were very bland and the presentation was kinda unappealing.. balls of meat with a weird pickle slapped on top. I ordered the lasagna....I did not know it was possible to make a bad lasagna. This one has 30 layers of mushy pasta, dry cheese, and sauce that was just kind of poured over the top scantily. I had about 5 bites and decided that it wasn 't worth eating because it literally had no taste to it. I would have rather had frozen lasagna than this. My friend ordered the braised beef...sirloin with mushroom and some sort of risotto. Unfortunately it tasted like microwave on-cor Salisbury steak and the risotto reminded us of oatmeal mixed with sausage gravy. My brother had the walleye and he said it was ok . It came in a bowl on top of almond ferro salad that looked very much like rice pudding. He said it tasted like oatmeal with nuts in it.We really had high hopes for this place since it 's a little local place. We really wanted to like it. Based on the service and ambience, probably would definitely come back...but based on the food, unfortunately definitely not a do over.
