(Mittagessen, 2 Personen, 28,80 € A zoo visit was announced today for our animal friends group from Frankfurt and the surrounding area. To ten we walked through the zoo and arrived at the Mexican Zoo Restaurant Sombrero for lunch. The weather was almost ingenious if not the still quite fresh temperatures. We could have gotten a table for 10 in the outside area of the restaurant, but ultimately we decided to use the indoor area. The disadvantage here was the somewhat unpleasant smelling oil-induced air, but either first-inking or freezing were the alternatives...... while the sun seemed, but the wind was quite fresh. The only table that offered space for 10 people was reserved. Under certain circumstances, however, with a permanent reservation sign, because on request we could still take a seat there. For our concerns, the table was perfect, because we could sit there like the table round and comfortably talk over the big table. The feminine service force initially seemed somewhat unrestrained when she learned that we all wanted to pay separately, but that was just as fast overcoming, and she managed her whole thing quite well. It took a bit until the first two menus were organized and brought to the table by nine of the various service staff. We would have gotten along with two, anyway: well done. Soooo extensive is not the card that you would spend hours with it. In addition, the maps were no longer very appetizing and therefore quickly removed it. Nevertheless, many of us did not find the choice easy. But this was due, among other things, to the fact that we had planned a sociable meeting in a restaurant outside the zoo for the evening, and so it should be a little snack for some, but for some others the regular lunch. So there was also a colourful vinegar to orders: from apple strudel with fruit tea to plain pommes with ketchup to nachos with chili and Enchiladas tres amigos. After the somewhat tacky but not disturbingly long run-up time with cards bring and order pickup was then relatively fast. Well, if you have something to tell, then time goes faster. In this respect, we are not a good benchmark when it comes to waiting times. But, drinks and also later the dishes all came to the table almost at the same time as it should be. So, the ambience interested or better disturbed us as well as the grease actually less, as we were deepened in excited conversations (besides eating naturally. But as you can already see in the photo of the inn: the large pipes running on the ceiling do not necessarily contribute to a pleasant ambience, nor the grease. Sitting outdoors in the hot summer, the ambience may be quite different. The food itself: I had the Enchiladas Los Tres Amigos . In addition to the quite pale Enchiladas there was a mountain of Nacho chips, which were really crispy, but a somewhat unpleasant feeling, as under the upper layer Nachos many fragments came to day not only on my plate, so that you could already come to an unwell thought. Together with the salsa, the nachos were really good, but the salsa also beside the enchilada filled with chili was the best on my plate. The vegetables enchilada were quite tasteless, and the enchilada with delicate chicken fillets unfortunately only revealed very dry chicken cubes that may have been tender once. The chicken fillets of the neighbor on the Chicken Chips plate already looked more promising, and also the potato wedges not as dry as with us in the canteen. It's a good mouth! My wife with her El Vegi Enchiladas were too little the attached sauces and thus the plate too dry and unworn. All in all, we see an OK. I personally didn't expect any gastronomic flights. And if you take a place with this thought during a visit to the zoo, you should actually be able to return quite satisfied and saturated. Conclusion: because you can't leave the zoo at any time and enter the Zoo with the purchase of the Zoo ticket, you have to rely on the catering facilities of the Zoo area. And if you are informed before the zoo visit, you will certainly not be disappointed. Either you bring the boulevard filled with picnic material, get a bratwurst at the sausage bud, or return to the sombrero. Only to go Mexican food will no one visit the Frankfurt Zoo. I don't know if there is another sombrero restaurant outside the zoos, but it was very nice to have one to eat after making the rounds of the zoos. everything we had was quick, fresh and tasty.
Unimaginative, dry, absolutely tasteless Mexican kitchen. dry cabinet tomato without enough sauces (they pay for extra sose, yes). only one star as zero is not possible. remain away from this place (sought twice, terrible eating at both places), better they get a sausage somewhere in the zoo. premise or outside the zoos. the service was ok.
