Zum Alten Frankfurter

Place was very nice and calm, but the most impressive is the cooking. We at Schnitzel and Scweinrucksteak - both were perfectly made and given with a light salad. Prices are good, I think a bit lower than average. Place is actually visited by locals only, tourists are very rare here. And I think the reason for locals to be here is the cooking.

On our yearly visits to the Christmas Market we have never fail to eat at this cosy, family-run pub/restaurant which serves traditional food and is populated by locals - always a good sign. The steaks and Schnitzel are tender and tasty. It is centrally located, the food is delicious, menu of the day changes daily, provides two choices and the generous portions are not overpriced. The table d'hote menu is in Deutsche and English and it is advisable to reserve a table.

If you are looking to grab a beer where the locals go, this is it. Great atmosphere and in the middle of everything.

We expected to have some authentic Frankfurt food and atmosphere but actually lunch failed since kitchen was closed at 16 pm. Dark and not pleasant place.

I was very lucky to find this restaurant during the last day of my stay in Frankfurt. The restaurant is a family business and the atmosphere is very friendly there - there are local visitors who know each other - seems they enjoy coming to this place. The rumpstake was so good that I ordered it twice during the evening. Very nice place, I enjoed the evening I spent there.
