We enjoyed breakfast, and their blueberry pancakes were made with fresh blueberries rather than the typical blueberry compote you find at most places, which we really appreciated. All the breakfast items we ordered were wonderful. The only dish I didn't particularly care for was the gravy on the country fried steak; while the steak itself was excellent, the gravy didn't match the flavor profile I'm accustomed to, but that's just a matter of personal taste. Our family will definitely return for future visits, as the food was delicious and the service was outstanding! Great service is hard to come by these days, and this place really excels in that regard, especially for anyone seeking a classic diner vibe (which seems to be harder to find now). If you're in Frederick on Route 40 and looking for an authentic small business diner, Mountain View Diner and Masser Toll House Inn are definitely worth stopping by!
My family liked their food (fish liver with onions), but I was not impressed. I ordered pierogis, and they were disappointing. The prices are excessively high for diner food and the atmosphere. The restaurant also lacks maintenance and cleanliness.
We were seated at a dirty table with a puddle of spilled drinks still lingering underneath. It was clear there was no effort made to clean the table from the previous guests. Our family ordered a variety of dishes, including waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage. The waffle was decent, but the pancakes were a disappointment—all the kids turned their noses up at them, and my wife even commented that store-bought pancake mix would have tasted better. The scrambled eggs were merely okay—flat and slightly undercooked, with a bit of runniness. The sausage was tough and lacked flavor. What shocked me the most was that all of the food was served on badly chipped plates. I expressed my disappointment to both the server and the front-of-house manager, but neither showed any interest in addressing the situation, even with a small gesture like comping a child's chocolate milk after we had to deal with the mess left by a previous guest. This experience left our family in a pretty grumpy mood to start the day. My wife joked that we would have been better off simply buying a dozen donuts for around $15 instead of spending $65 on breakfast. It was a very disappointing experience, and we’ll definitely be crossing this place off our list for now.
We read great reviews and came here on a weekday morning during a staycation after we came home from a hurricane vacation. We ordered breakfast pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and Belgian waffle. It took a while to be seated despite not being super crowded. I get that they may be short staffed, so we waited on some vintage diner style couches that could use some repair. When we were seated, our kid got brown liquid on her white shorts from the table, which had liquid all over it. Then we looked on the floor and there was liquid spilled all over. We moved our table and the server instructed someone to clean it up. When we got our meal, the eggs and waffle were good. The bacon was fine. The pancakes were flat, I mean I should have stayed home and made Walmart pancake mix, which has more depth of flavor than these. The sausages were really gristle y. It was not worth the money. When we were leaving, the lunch crowd was coming in, and I am finding it hard to understand how it was that busy. It was just okay and way worse than cooking at home.
Ordered the chicken wrap and got a Greek gyro. Sat us in a hot room.
