Golden BBQ House - Fremantle

During our journey south, we decided to order two takeaway fried rice dishes - one with duck and one with pork. However, we were disappointed to find that the dishes were very salty, tasted old, and seemed to be reheated. Unfortunately, we were unable to eat them. Overall, we felt that the food was of poor quality and not worth the money.

My wife and I decided to visit this restaurant on a whim, eager to try it for the first time. The initial impression was good as the restaurant was clean and inviting, and we were promptly seated and took our order. We started with spring rolls, which were decent but lacking in presentation with no garnish, served with a small portion of sweet chili sauce. The entrees were followed by lemon chicken, sizzling king prawns with ginger and shallots, and plain rice. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when the waiter accidentally spilled sauce on our table and plate while serving the chicken dish. The dish itself consisted of deep-fried chicken in batter with a standard lemon sauce and a slice of lemon on top. The batter was overpowering, and some pieces of chicken were too small to handle it. The prawn dish had lots of vegetables but lacked ginger and seasoning, requiring us to add salt, pepper, and soy sauce from the table. The portions were large, but the lack of flavor and finesse was disappointing. Later that night, we both experienced the negative effects of MSG, to which we are mildly allergic. It was perplexing to find MSG in dishes that lacked flavor to begin with.

I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and was pleasantly surprised. The meals were hot and delicious, the atmosphere was pleasant. We had two main dishes, two steamed pork buns, and two drinks for a total of $35.00.

My daughter and I had heard the dim sum was tasty so decided to give it a go. We had the salt and pepper squid which was just deep fried and over cooked as was the tofu. All we could do was pull off the batter dark brown batter and eat the inside. The dumplings were a little more tasty but nothing to rave about. I have eaten at this restaurant before in the evening and have not been disappointed . We certainly will not be venturing back to this establishment any time soon.

We had a Family lunch here today. Early Mothers Day. First visit here, but won't be the last. Beautiful food came over fast and was delicious. Lovely service and a very clean venue. Well done.
