Papa King's - Fremantle

A group of friends went to Papa Kings restaurant in Freo. The music if no good. we used to love the regae music of "The Freo Grasshoppers" but they don't seem to be there anymore. That was fantastic music. the food is not as nice anymore. we tried the ribs for main, but they were very fatty, the mango pudding was ok but all round quite expensive.I would not recommend this place anymore. There are much nicer places to eat Like Creatures, or Creatures next door with fantastic views.

Had dinner here on Sunday while listening to some lovely live music. Unfortunately there were a couple of let downs, firstly that the resiling and SSB by the glass were both unavailable as they had run out?? We ordered about 5 food items and were shocked by how small the serves were. The food tasted good but we left hungry and paid for a burger on the way home!Disappointing as we were looking forward to the Caribbean food and hoped it would be a regular spot to enjoy the live music.

We loved the food - something really different and delicious. Very reasonable prices and the staff were very good.

Went there tonight with two caribean friends. Summary ..very disappointing! Opportunities for improvement....turn the music down( there is a reason no one is eating inside); train the staff( they don't know about the food .they couldn't even tell us how many croquettes came in a serve); drinks are expensive; food is bland for caribean fare.The staff are friendly enough but are leaderless. Make some improvements before people start to talk negatively.Get an independent audit and pay attention.

Visited for dinner with friends who wanted to try the place out. In between Essex St and Norfolk St so would miss if walking along. Nice, colourful place with seating inside and out. Friendly, welcoming staff and very accommodating. Not a huge menu but decided to get a few things and share which was a great idea. Had the jerk chicken, pork ribs, beef curry and a few side dishes. The chicken and ribs were good. Reasonable prices. Drinks menu was good, more so for cocktails & spirits than for wine. There's a raised stage so presumed there is live music on some nights. Not sure I would go back but glad we tried it.
