Whenever I can't find any vegan options at a nearby store in Clovis, I always make the trip to Whole Foods. I have never had trouble finding what I need there, although the items can be a bit pricey. They even made my birthday cake for me, offering two vegan options. I chose the chocolate cake, which was a hit with the non-vegan party guests as well. There wasn't a crumb left! Whole Foods also has a food bar, just like the other locations I've been to. The first time I visited and asked for vegan pizza, they didn't have it. But the next time they did, and even when they didn't have it available, they were willing to make one for me if I asked. I appreciate that I can buy just a slice or two of vegan pizza here, instead of having to buy a whole pie like at other places. Overall, I really enjoy this Whole Foods location, but I do wish there was one closer to me.
This is a little luxury for my family, but it is where we go when we travel and we want vegan meat, cheese, cookies, cakes, pace, frozen foods and chocolates. You have a wide range of vegan and raw, and you will be able to find back ingredients when you find something a little harder in a regular grocery store. You also have a nice selection of products, although it is a bit pricier. And if you are a salsa fan, there is a special brand of salsa that you can only find in Fresno and it's delicious, so look for the Bobby Salazar's salsa. It's a local treat.
I had heard about this place on Happycow and decided to stop in on my way to San Francisco. Here is my review of Whole Foods Market. The store is very well-designed and beautifully lit. It is similar to other Whole Foods stores, but this one feels particularly nice. It is spacious, but not overly large. The store has all of the usual attractions of a Whole Foods: a large food area with different stations for pizza, burritos, deli items, sandwiches, warm dishes, and a salad bar. We also picked up some homeopathic herbs and chips. It was a lovely experience browsing through the store.
I am a fan of the salad bar which has tons of fresh veggies, baked tofu, and marinated mushrooms. They have a delicious vegan caesar dressing to top it off. However I usually spend about 10-12 dollars for a large salad so if you love big salads you better have a big wallet. They have some good vegan hot items along with fresh sandwiches and pizza for those who are making the big bucks and can afford a casual lunch for $12.
