But the bartender recommended and I had to go with his rec.Was pleasantly surprised. They come with some charro beans that made an okay dish a ? thumbs up.Overall it is not anything extraordinary. But at this price point and this part of town not bad at all.Bartender and Staff were friendly.Nowadays that is a huge deal and the reason for 5 stars.
If you live in the neighborhood and just want some good ole solid Mex, this is an option! It is not quite your run of the mill Tex Mex hole in the wall, but not overly fancy either! I 'd say it is somewhere in between. Maybe we could call it bougee Mex. I went in there in the afternoon looking for a solid beverage and they were not doing the HH at the time but they do have it 7 days a week ! from 3 to 7. Good frozen margaritas here if that is your thing and different sizes depending on your thirst quenching level. I was also feeling adventurous too and tried out the queso. The queso was just okay to me, however I did like the salsa and the chips were fresh and hot. I ended up dumping up some of the salsa into the queso and it actually made it taste a bit better, it just didn 't have the zest I was looking for. I did see a few patrons go for the sizzling fajitas. I do have to say almost nothing that makes me happier more than the sounds of the fajita sizzle! So that must be their specialty. I plan on going back especially for the HH specials. The restaurant is large and spacious too so great option for a birthday, special event or fun lunch with a business client.
Great spot for lunch or dinner, the shrimp Enchiladas are very good. My family loves their chips and Salsa. Great service.
I really wanted to give this place 4 stars. I've had a lot of good enchiladas, and this place is up there with the best as far as food goes. Unfortunately, the waiter brought out one of the enchiladas with the ranchero instead of the queso sauce I ordered. We also arrived between lunch specials and happy hour, which is unfortunate because we couldn't benefit from either. They should consider offering a twilight special, especially considering how empty the place was.The dining area was fine. For some odd reason the waiter chose to seat us right in front of the restrooms even though we were the only ones there. Anyways, the place is good, just not amazing.
We went in a weekend honestly cannot understand why the joint wasn't packed. We had quick friendly service, the food came out promptly, and we were super-pleased. It's a locally owned business, and while there are definitely Tex-Amex snobs out there, our experience is that this is exactly what we need more of.Please give Papa Lopez a shot. It's in a great, easy-to-get-to location (and close to where the remainder of your errands probably are), so pop in and dine locally.
