Took my dad and mom there after their urgent care visit, and they really enjoyed everything. We ordered the soup dumpling, and my son loved it! It wasn't soupy, but it was tasty. We also got the shrimp mayo, we cleaned the plate pretty good on that one (input for the restaurant, doilies are unnecessary for any dish). Chicken fried rice was also made perfectly. And steamed bok choi, at first I thought it was a bit overcooked, but it's actually pretty good, don't forget to ask for the sauce. Definitely a hard-working family, the kids were really helpful and smart. Good job, guys!
I am such a fan of these little mom and pop Chinese restaurants. It makes me think of my own family and how hard they worked to support everyone. This restaurant is a mom cooking, with her kids who help out (the older one helps take orders and serve, the younger two help bring water and clean the tables). To the Google reviewer who spoke negatively about this restaurant looking like a daycare and wanting the kids to be out of sight, shame on you for shaming a mom running a restaurant; this is what it's like for people who have to grind to give their kids the best they can.Having said that, we happened on this place when the Italian restaurant next door was randomly closed. I am so glad it was, because this food was GREAT. The menu isn't huge, but we ordered a lot and everything was really good xiao long bao, pork and shrimp dumplings, wonton noodle soup, beef rolls and pan fried pork buns. Of course this ain't DTF but this was really solid Chinese food, and it's perfect for a rainy day. The only thing I didn't like was the pan fried pork buns not much flavor, plus it was just too oily. Loved everything else though, it's the stuff I grew up eating. We'll definitely make this a regular place in our rotation!
Pretty good and authentic Taiwanese food for North OC! We especially enjoyed the XLBs, pork vegetable bao and scallion pancake. The beef noodle soup was rather bland and the popcorn chicken was too salty. Although the food was decent, the ambiance and service made us feel extremely uncomfortable. At first, I thought it was cute and sweet that the young kids were serving us. However, it dawned on me that the Mom might be forcing her young children to work in order to save money on labor, which just doesn't sit well from an ethical perspective. It got even more awkward when we noticed a newborn baby simply sitting in a car seat in the back of the restaurant by the bathroom completely unattended. Later, the family sat down next to us for an intimate family dinner, which just felt super uncomfortable like we were intruding upon their personal living space instead of dining in a commercial restaurant. *insert nervous laughter*Not sure I can recommend this place in good conscience.
Everything is super delicious here. My favorite is the beef roll. Best beef roll i've ever had
Delicious, authentic Taiwanese dumplings at reasonable prices considering the quality of the food. This is a small, family-run establishment with a mother and her young sons. I ordered take-out, and while I was waiting, the sweet young boy even brought me some water. Everything I tried was delightful: the Fried Beef Roll, Xiao Long Bao, Pork Cabbage Dumplings, Spicy Wontons, and Scallion Pancake were all excellent. The only dish I didn't enjoy as much was the Beef Noodle Soup, which was excessively salty. Overall, it's definitely worth the wait if you're in the mood for Taiwanese cuisine.
