That visit led to the most delicious empanadas I’ve ever had. Today, we made a 45-minute detour just to stop there, knowing we might not get another chance to visit. Their beef empanada is outstanding! The pastry is light, airy, and flaky, while the filling is seasoned to perfection. Don't miss out on dessert—be sure to grab a couple (or a dozen) of the guava and cheese empanadas. They’re incredible, with the two fillings harmoniously blended. It might sound unusual, but it truly works. The only downside is when you realize all your empanadas are gone—so definitely make sure to get plenty!
I visited for the first time and had a great experience. The service was friendly. I ordered a single shot of sweetened espresso Cuban coffee for $1, which was good. However, the highlight of my visit was definitely the Cuban sandwich.
This is the best spot for straightforward Cuban food in Gainesville. While it can't quite match what you'd find in Miami or Cuba, the Cuban Gator sandwich and the beef pastry puff were definitely authentic. I really appreciate that it stays open late compared to other restaurants in the area. I'm looking forward to coming back to try their ropa vieja. We did experience a bit of a wait for our food on a busy Friday night, but the staff was friendly and the prices are very reasonable.
Had tried some bites of my friend’s orders a few times and never understood the hype. Went back and tried a cuban as well as the nachos and was thoroughly impressed. Great place to grab a beer, eats some cuban food, and listen to live music in their own closed off street. 100% a must try for people new to Gainesville
