Silk Road Choyhona - Gaithersburg

Silk Road was a very fun experience. When you walk in it has tall ceilings and relaxed vibe. It was fantastic and yet not super fancy. I do recommend it. The service was polite and helpful. I asked for multiple suggestions and the service helped with pointing me in the direction. The food was awesome. I ordered the Plov which is a favorite it appears. The meal was wholesome but not heavy. I found the way they cooked the carrots was very unique to Silk Road and I appreciate their style. The lamb was tender. The brown rice accompanied the rest of the meal very well. I also ordered the borsh I believe and that was like a cabbage version of French onion soup but without the cheese. I ordered the bread to go alongside it. Both were great. The bread was super fresh made for me I felt like. Check it out for a casual date night for a little different cuisine then you might be used to. I just wish I had had one to bring with me here!

If you're looking for a restaurant that is a good at hitting authentic tastes, like no further. My partner loved the nostalgia of this place as we sampled their more familiar dishes. We will definitely come back to try the dishes that are less familiar to us. We stopped here on a weekday night after realizing our dinner required a few hours of preparation that we didn't have the energy to fulfill. Coming here was the perfect alternative. There was a slight smell when we entered the restaurant, nothing terrible, I just noticed it when we walked it, and we got used to it quickly. The atmosphere was calming and it wasn't very busy, not too surprising for a weekday night. The decor and wall art were well done and it was fun to look around at everything. The service was friendly and the staff had a pleasant distant but attentive style that I appreciated. Finally, there wasn't a long wait for the food as it came out pretty quickly. What we got: Olivier salad 4* this was a really yummy and filling salad. For those who have not had it before like myself, I thought it was similar to a fancy egg salad. Filled with a lot of different vegetables, textures, and flavors, it made a very fun and enjoyable dish. Borscht 5* absolutely fantastic. I've never had washed with potato and meat in it before which this one had. The flavor was spot on and they give you the perfect amount of sour cream. If you ask for spicy sauce they'll bring out a sauce that's more on the sour side and it's also pretty good in the borscht. Plov 3.5* this wasn't our favorite version of plov, but we can see why it received such high ratings on yelp. My favorite part was the baked garlic that came out in half a clove and you then squeezed yourself. Medovik tort 4* a pretty solid dessert. My partner loved it and said it was very nostalgic. I thought it was pretty good myself. Kompot 4* if you like kompot, you will like this. It delivers on the nostalgia. My partner enjoyed it (being the one who said all of the above). As for myself, a new person to kompot I think it's more of an acquired taste. I did enjoy sipping it alongside the dishes but I personally wouldn't drink it on its own.

This was the first time I had Uzbek cuisine and it will definitely not be the last. When I arrived to pick up my takeout I was quickly greeted and helped. The person who helped me asked what my order was and made sure everything was there. I had to suffer on the drive home because I couldn't stuff my face while driving. It smelled so good! I stuffed my face when I got home... the plov (boneless lamb leg, rice, roasted garlic, chili pepper, garbanzo beans, and raisins) was one of the most delicious things I've had in a while. It was sweet and savory. The meat was so tender and the raisins added a perfect hint of sweetness. Yum! I also got crispy chuchvara (dumpling filled with ground meat and onion) and steamed pumpkin manti (with what I believe was cumin). The chuchvara came with pickled onions and ya girl loves some pickled onions ! They added the perfect amount of acidity. The manti was not sweet and it was very delicious. I definitely want to return and try more things. Next time I'm going to sit inside because from what I saw, it looked very clean and was beautifully decorated. Check it out and try the plov!!!

My recent visit to was an absolute delight! From the impeccable customer service to the delectable cuisine and inviting atmosphere, every aspect of my experience was exceptional. Despite the bustling crowd, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met with genuine kindness. I am eagerly looking forward to my next visit, eager to relive the fantastic moments all over again.

Excellent every time!!!! Soups are great, kebabs are excellent. Perfect for lunch and dinner.
