C we ended up with 1 extra burger (what? and brought it back to the manager and he IMMEDIATELY refunded the extra burger (THANK YOU, ROB!! . D EVERY EMPLOYEE in the joint was friendly and smiling. It was a great experience and we will be coming back
Our family loves this classic beach burger joint. We've been going to Michael Burger since I was a kid, and my adult taste buds and impeccable sense of awesome still give it two thumbs up. :D The venue is a perfect beach venue: set up on stilts like the beach houses, with a large patio facing the ocean. It's set far enough back from the beach that it's not ON the beach, but the view is still nice. (Woody's is across the street. You walk in and order at the counter on the right, and they give you a buzzer that vibrates, lights up, and even announces when your order is up. Fancy. The place can get busy, so arrive early or be prepared to wait. The burgers are made to order and I've never been let down by a burger here. The Galvez is my favorite a solid guacamole burger. The fries are excellent and I highly recommend the spicy Cajun fries, which resemble fried pickle chips. I don't think I've ever had a non burger meal here... Stick to the burgers. That's what they're known for. This trip we showed up shortly after their 11 AM opening, and we were the 2nd customers to arrive. The first were a local looking couple already cracking open a beer. Nice. Salt life. It used to be cash only but now they take credit cards. Their seasonal hours vary, so ALWAYS call ahead if you're here in the winter months. When we went, they said they'll be closed for Jan but they've closed before Christmas in the past. So call to confirm. It's not table service, but the folks are nice and it's a good local establishment, not a chain. Brittany up front is super nice. She took our order and followed up with us after, plus she was bussing tables and taking care of other stuff. Rob, who was tidying up and taking care of other stuff, was great, too. And here's a shout out to Thomas in the back, who does a consistently good job cooking great stuff! This is always a must stop for our family when we're in Galveston. Classic. Been here for a long time.
A blast from the past for me. I used to come here as a kid in the 80's with my parents after a day at the beach. It was called Maxi Burger back then. Same concept. The food is still the same. With a nice view of the gulf as you peer through the sand dunes and salt grass. As you walk upon the sandy wooden floor, you can pick up a cold German beer and stare at the ocean while you wait for your food. They have burgers, bratwurst, fried shrimp, fish tacos, and other goodness.
I am forever on the quest for a good burger. Anytime I visit a new city, I scour yelp in search of that cities great burgers. Cafe Michael Burger was suggested by many people so off we went. The restaurant is located across the road from the beach, but has beach views. The patio had garage doors which were open and allowed the nice sea breeze to blow into the restaurant. We placed our order and grabbed a beer from their large cooler. The restaurant is very casual. The tables are plastic with plastic chairs which gave it a cool, laid back feeling. The burgers were large and the patties hand formed. I enjoyed the burger, but I wasn't blown away. The fries were also just OK. We tried both the standard and curly fries with the curly being the better of the two. I'm not sure it was just an off day, but I didn't find the burger to be anything special. Cash only, but there is an ATM inside.
One of the best burgers I've ever had. They use real beef that are hand formed into patties and not that pressed meat. They cook did it right and didn't press all the juice out of them. Nice staff, clean and friendly.
