It is a popular spot among locals, but we were warmly welcomed and felt right at home. We opted for the regular and hearty brunch breakfast, which was filled with delicious treats like fruit, yogurt, ham, eggs, cheese, and toast. The meal was beautifully presented in a lovely room that used to be an old-time grocery store. Along with a fantastic cup of coffee, friendly hosts, and attentive service, it's no wonder this place deserves a five-star rating! And to top it all off, they even offer take-away goodies for later enjoyment.
We thought on day 8 of our road trip on the way from Twillingate to Cape St. Mary's was a late breakfast and it was the best we had our entire trip. And it was a treat to the place of items for sale and only on the display while we waited for our food. There were actually locals there, so we enjoyed a little conversation and just overheared conversation. I would highly recommend this little jewel!
My wife and I arrived in Gambo for an overnight stay and were limited in dinner options. In search of a reservation, I contacted Cashin' Chestnut Tree Cafe only to be informed that they were closed for the evening. After explaining that we had just arrived and it was our only opportunity to dine there, the owner/operator kindly offered to stay open for us. With some directions to find the location, we had a pleasant meal thanks to the owner's generosity in extending their hours. The food was delicious, the prices were fair, the atmosphere was cozy, and the service was very personal.
My family and I held a lunch before our moose Hunt. What a treasure! I had a cup of soup and a sandwich. The homemade bread was above the moon. The big coffee came.
While visiting with friends nearby they suggested we have breakfast at Billy 's as the Locals know it for the Proprietor . This place is like a time capsule resembling an old corner store cafe but the fun part is it 's very alive and...vibrant thanks in part to the Owner and a great local clientele. Plan to have at least one meal or just a chat and chew here.
