Located in the Sinbad Airport Hotel, The Mystic Dining Room is a hidden gem reminiscent of a bustling market in Cairo. Despite the hotel needing a bit of cleaning, The Mystic provided a clean and neat dining experience. The bar had a cozy atmosphere, with friendly staff and a selection of drinks. The menu was extensive, with prices on the higher side for the location. The Chipotle Caesar Salad was a pleasant surprise, while the Sinbad Burger and Sinbad Wings were both satisfying. The wings were particularly impressive, with a crispy exterior and tender meat. Overall, The Mystic Dining Room is a must-visit spot in Gander, Newfoundland for delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere.
Our experience at this restaurant was a bit strange. When we arrived around noon, there were no other customers or staff present. We had to ask in the kitchen if the restaurant was open, and we were eventually seated by a server who then disappeared. After reappearing, he took our orders and brought our drinks, but forgot a cup for my coffee. My husband ordered the Tortilla Breaded Cod, which was supposed to come with chipotle-lime tartar sauce, but instead received a chopped cod quesadilla with a strange oily dressing. My chili bean burger was satisfactory, but the Caesar salad that came with it contained bacon unexpectedly.
After being stranded for approximately 20 hours due to a flight delay, we were not sure if we would find any decent food in the near future. Thankfully, we were taken to Sinbad and received meal vouchers from our airline. The pizza was amazing! My friend even said it was some of the best pizza she had ever eaten. We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast and had some excellent wine. This restaurant truly saved us during this inconvenient and challenging unexpected layover (watch out Norwegian Airline!). Thank you very much!
I recommend going to another restaurant. Our waitress was really sweet, but others were visibly upset. The waiting times were high, the food was not very good at all and it was very expensive. For two pastas and two small drinks it was $80 not included tip, with an hour and half waiting. The pasta had no taste at all, it was simply pasta with some vegetables in it we couldn't finish it.
