King George Fish And Grill - Geelong

I have had better Fish and Chips but I have also had worse. What lifted it above average is a very extensive menu with wonderful staff.

Had the King George whiting plus chips and grilled vegetables. Fillet bit small but the rest was yummy. Good service, nice beer, good coffee. Was just what I wanted.

Arrived by bike into Geelong looking for a nice place for lunch. King George Fish and Chips was in a great spot, no doubt about that. Having a choice of indoors or out was good too, so we settled in, read the menu which read...well. Given the place is called Kings George Fish and Chips I went for the whiting and chips. I have to say the prices weren’t cheap, but everything looked good, so we were happy. Then the massive plate of chips with two paper thin slices of whiting that felt like leather arrived. Disappointment set in. Others in our group ordered a variety of dishes, but they all came with a mountain of chips and what looked like a token seafood accomplyment. For the cost, one would expect better. Won’t be back, can get just as good for a fraction of the price at the local chip shop!

Initial service was great, pleasant staff but food took over an hour to come out for just flash fried stuff (not sure if their order online option is responsible). But food when we finally received was good quality. And then paying for drinks was a...long process as well. Simple lunch a lot of effort and probably not worth it

Dined in with family on Sunday and ordered the share pack for two. Everything was very good especially the flake. The best fish I have eaten in a long time. Everyone enjoyed their lunch and the portions were quite big. The staff were very friendly...and helpful. A large fish and chip cafe you can either eat in or takeaway with seating indoors and outdoors right on the Geelong Waterfront. Highly recommend.
