The ONLY reason this place is busy is because the terrace gets the sun and the 70+ year old locals that frequent this place are creatures of habit. Do not be fooled by the crowds, it's one of the worst places in Florissant/Champel. The bread...is rock hard and expensive, the lunch menu food tastes like hospital food (and is also a expensive) and the service is ridiculously slow and unfriendly. I have walked out of this place three times after waiting over 15 mins for my order (a coffee and croissant) to be taken and a further 10 mins to be served. There are three other restaurants very close on the same street that you should try before venturing across the doors of La maison du Gateau.
Still the slowest service in the city. At least the girls at the counter are friendly. Really not recommended for the terrace.
I thought at this cafe with my wife was a coffee and cake. The coffee was good and the cake was delicious. We sat outside in the sun that was beautiful. They had a wide selection of cakes. I looked at her to try and choose one for the next time I visited.
The best in this place was the very beautiful outdoor seating area. I went twice during my visit to Geneva as it was very close to where I was. My first visit was for a cup of tea and then a second visit for... a beer.. It is waiter service to the table and service was slow to take the order and then they seemed to forget us. On both visits it was sunny and sitting outside was very pleasant. Don't go in or eat anything, so don't comment.
