Loved everything about this place! We sat at the bar. Made new friends with other patrons. So friendly!!
A bar that's popular among the locals and bikers and has the reputation for being the oldest bar in Ashtabula County, established somewhere along the mid 1800s. It's right next to a covered bridge too, so it ended up being our pit stop for lunch while we wanted to check out a covered bridge. Definitely no frills. You order at a counter, no table service as far as I know. Lots of memorabilia and personality at the bar. It's very neatly decorated and huge. There is an outdoor area (that's somewhat enclosed) and a main area, along with a large of games (darts, bowling, etc). I ordered the Rodeo burger. They were not able to cook it to order and it came out well. It was a bit dry, but came with some fried onion rings and a large amount of BBQ sauce. Serviced with chips. It was an AOK burger, I'd give it 3 stars bun was lightly toasted, which is a plus but def on the dry side and minus points for not being able to cook it to order. I also tried some of the fried pickles. There are only 6 or so that come to an order and they are decent and are served with a mayo/ketchup blend sauce. Pretty good. All in all, it's a decent place where the locals hang out. A OK food, awesome bar decor and you definitely leave a little bit more of a biker than you were when you came in.
As Ashtabula County 's Oldest Tavern (circa 1847), The Grand River Manor gets five stars for what it offers to the community, a great place for locals to come for a great beer selection, plenty of seating both indoors around a large horseshoe bar inside (there is a duplicate bar in the basement reserved for parties), a screened in patio which offers a smoking area and a large covered outdoor area. The Manor is right next to one of Ashtabula County 's famed covered bridges and looks out over The Grand River. Its certainly not fine dining and no is going to argue there are fancier and better meals in the county. However, if you want to watch sports on one of it 's many flat screen tv 's, listen to live music (still available outside post Covid-19), get REALLY cold beer, take in Tuesday Wing Night (a local favorite with over 20 sauce options), the Manor is a friendly place where everyone is welcome. Both Family 's...to end their Canoe journey (call Grand River Canoe Livery for more info) AND bikers to stop on their ride. Here, all are welcome as well...to come for lunch or dinner or just relax with friends. Yes, it 's cash only...and there is an atm. Oh, did I say all are welcome? Well, mostly anyone. If you can 't handle paying cash and want to whine and judge an establishment just on that factor..I imagine whey will be okay if you keep driving by...
Very good food, great prices, prepared well, very timely served. Great location with a covered bridge across the street.
