My mission during my life was to experience Afternoon Tea wherever I am in the world. As a Tea Master, I appreciate high-quality tea leaves served in a porcelain vessel. The scale for the style of Afternoon Tea is a traditional English place The Lanesborough Hotel, Knightsbridge, London. Sandwiches and scones are lovely. The Capital Hotel, Basil Street, Knightsbridge, London is perfect for one or two in the Tea Salon. Perfect tea food and carefully selected leaf teas.
4 of us reserved a table because the Silver Palm lists small plates as a cigar bar and its menu. However, when we arrived, the waitress explained that we were set up for afternoon tea, which was at a table outside the bar itself. We explained that we were there for the small plates, not tea. The waitress appeared upset as they had set the table for the afternoon tea. We asked them about cigars, they have a small humidor and they were on the menu and we asked to sit in the bar where there were several tables empty. We said if we wanted cigars, we had to go to a small veranda overlooking the pool. So we ordered cigars and beverages and went to a small café upstairs, where it was practically impossible to illuminate cigars because of the wind. We waited for about 15 minutes for the waitress to take the food order. During this time, several people came to the railing to see the pool area and had to touch us almost physically. When the waitress came back, we told her we would just pay the bill and give up the food. She took the time to tell us about her sports bar that we were not interested, and her other restaurants that we were not interested in. Then we went to Marriott and had sushi and small plates, drinks and were waited by 3 members of the waiter. Just a hint, Ritz Carlton, don't call yourself cigars if you don't allow someone to smoke a cigar.
Tea, tea, tea! What a wonderful afternoon tea! My husband and I enjoyed the tea and pastries that were presented deliciously and beautifully. There is a huge tea menu, and we just want us not to rush for a wellness service right after, because it was worth a long stay and second visit.
High Tea was a true pleasure. Clearly a lot of creativity and talent when in to preparing the food, it was beautiful and delicious and the staff was so welcoming and kind.
I would love to give this experience a 5 star but unfortunately I found a piece of sausage casing in one of the sandwiches. Pointed it out to the waitress who brought it back to the kitchen and all we got was a sorry. No exchange for a new piece or any discount was offered. Little disappointed as the expectations for Ritz was much higher than this.
