Gumbo's North On The Square In Georgetown

My husband and I had a spontaneous date night and decided to check out Gumbo's North in the square. Only the upper floors were open, and there was live music playing, which added to the experience. We started with some crusty bread and garlic butter, and I ordered the blackened shrimp while my husband had the catfish with dirty rice. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed, like a true local spot where people come to drink and unwind. As newcomers to Georgetown, we really loved it here and can't wait to return.

The food and service are both experiences you should have. The Gumbo is so good here my Cajun friends recommend it. Some of my favorites are the pecan crust chicken and the salmon with the cooking potatoes. You will not be disappointed that you have gone to Gumbo in the square.

We experienced high-quality food at this restaurant. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was incredible! We also tried the shrimp and crusted fish pasta, as well as the shrimp and beef pasta, and both dishes were exceptional. The waitress was attentive and friendly, and the live music added a nice touch without being too loud. We will definitely be returning!

I ordered the fried shrimp with vegetables and chicken and sausage gumbo. My husband ordered the fried catfish. All of that was the absolute best. I think that was the very best fried shrimp I've ever tasted in my 60 years. And the live music was perfect. Loved it!!! But...we also ordered the expresso martini...was completely tasteless. We wondered if they forgot the vodka. And my apple brie cheese salad was tasteless, as well. I don't get it. Maybe they forgot the dressing? I would have said something, but I think they were extremely short on staff and the waiter was trying his best.

This was truly a gem. The wait wasn't long at all. Daniel was amazing to us. All the food was really good except the gumbo which had a burnt taste and fries they were hard.
