The results weren't all that great, but I figured what the heck, it's one meal, one night, and at-least the comradery would be good. Oh my, was I ever wrong!! The meal was FABULOUS! The food delicious, rivaled only by quick and courteous service. What a wonderful gathering! I happily applaud those responsible for selecting the Wilshire Restaurant. Though not a trained connoisseur, I know good food and service when received. Yes, I highly recommend the Wilshire Restaurant in Georgetown, Kentucky! The only negative I encountered, in an otherwise perfect gathering, was a serious lack of appropriate Handicap Parking. Hats off and great job to the the Wilshire Restaurant!
We arrived at 5pm to an empty restaurant. Our server was less than thrilled to be there but took our order. We ordered pretzel appetizer, 3 soups, a salad, salmon and chicken quesadilla. We waited... over 40 min... waitress never returned. Finally, she brought 2/3 soups... 10 minutes later she brought our entrees. No butter with baked potato, no salsa or sour cream for the quesadilla. We asked for those things and asked about the soup and pretzels which she said she was waiting on? After the meals were done, the soup and pretzels arrived. No apology. No attempt to make things right. I emailed and FB messaged the restaurant to allow them to make things right. No reply. Will NOT be back.
A group of 4 of us went last night for their Valentine Special. We will not be back! The quality of our meals and drinks were very poor. The servers were sweet and kind however management was making her rush us through our meal due to them being so busy however there were open tables. Lobster Bisque was the first course.....it was blah. Very thin and runny and three tiny morsels of lobster in my soup. Strawberry Spinach Salad was next.....It should have just been called Spinach salad. It lacked any flavor but only having a few crumbles of cheese and almonds. Very pitiful salad. Two of us ordered the New York Strip with Shrimp. We only ate half of it because our mouths were tired of chewing. Extremely tough, flavorless cut of meat. The baked potatoes were undercooked and the brusssels were fine. The other two ordered the Prime Rib. Again lacked flavor and did not come with au jus as described on the menu. The Asparagus were HUGE which means tough and not good. Dessert, red velvet cake had zero flavor, good texture and good icing. The best thing of the night was the triple choc cake which was not make in house. Our cocktails were all disasters....the martini was not cold and the special Valentine 's cocktails we so sweet that they were not enjoyable.
I found myself back at Wilshire 's, hoping for a better experience 6 years later. The salad was the best part of my meal, cold and crisp. I asked for my sirloin to be medium, and it was served, to my dissatisfaction, overly well done and tough. Even the baked potato was over- done. Not a happy meal . 64
We came here for the St. Patrick's Day special menu. It was also a Yelp Elite Perk event, but it was the corned beef and cabbage that pulled me in! We arrived early afternoon, and were met at the door by the owner Don, and had our choice of almost any table in the place! Due to the COVID-19 virus global pandemic, all of the traditional March Madness has been cancelled and the bar was practically empty. Don gave us menus and brought water with lemon. We ordered the Beer battered mushrooms appetizer with Ranch dipping sauce. I had a glass of the house rose and hubby ordered a Guinness. The beverages were as expected, and the mushrooms were crispy and delicious. For our entree's, I chose the corned beef and cabbage with roasted parsnips and carrots, while hubby ordered the Georgetown Hot Brown; a traditional Kentuckian! The portions were generous and delicious. Don very easily talked us into having dessert, and the peanut butter pie we chose was light and creamy. We'd like to return in the future and try other items and see how the place is with more people in attendance. Thanks Don for inviting Yelp to your St. Patrick's Day weekend festivities!
