So yes, service was excellent the servers gave me everything I asked and made concessions for out of normal requests (like how I wanted my food made and how I wanted lots of buckets of ice it was an exceptionally humid day). They were all friendly and very helpful. Tatay's barbeque is now one of my favorites and the bagnet is literally to die for. It just melts in your mouth. The only miss was the chicharong bulaklak, which felt like a semi crunchy cotton ball (the size of a porkchop) soaked in oil. Otherwise, the food was a great. Wait time was long though as they have just fired up the grill, about 5 long songs.
I dined here when I still had booky discount and I was pleased. They offer very affordable food that I was not able to redeem my discount because I didn't meet the minimum requirements. The food is okay and very apt for pulutan. This is a very nice place for some drinking session with friends.
I would have rated this place 4 or 5 stars for the food. Their bagnet was crispy and crunchy. Their squid skewer and chicken isaw were also very good. The only let down was the place. There were a bothersome number of cockroaches roaming around the time we were eating, probably because their dining area is on the sidewalk.
First time at Smokes last night for a friend's birthday. First thing I noticed was that the place wasn't that spacious. Anyway, I'm not one to judge based on how spacious a place is or not. Servers here are surprisingly attentive despite everything going on at their restaurant. I got to try their fried calamares but it was a bit too peppery and flour heavy for my liking. I was also excited to try their bulaklak, but sadly, I was informed that they ran out of stock so minus points for that. I did however, order, and enjoyed their Tatay's Pork BBQ. Honestly it could have used a bit more time on the grill as it was close to undercooked, but what saved it was the extremely delicious dipping sauce that came with it. It looked a lot like your normal soy sauce, but tasted buttery and garlicky. Hopefully they can improve on the overall appearance of the restaurant, but food was not too bad and was priced fairly reasonably. Food 3/5 Service 4/5 Ambience 2.3/5 Value for money 4/5
As there is limited option for late night eat-out in Kapitolyo, we tried this one as we are looking for fish dish. We are delighted to learn that they are open until 3AM so we can be sure the dish they will serve is not just some leftover ones. We ordered the Salmon Teriyaki and Salmon sinigang. The teriyaki is too saucy but still good. The sinigang is also merited for lots of salmon strips and overflowing soup. Now the good part is the tapsilog! Can’t take this good night away with it!
