Skyline Lodge - Ghent

Good service. Great on site restaurant. Good food good value. Live music. Craft beer on tap. Great location and the rooms were not nice, but they were clean. The shower was hot. Rooms were affordable. My little hotel. I hope to go back. Beautiful area and landscape. We were on the tour of the autumn leaves.

The lodge is the perfect place for a short holiday. The room was simple, had a microwave and a fridge, a small bathroom and two beds. However, the view was worth that the price was right next to the water. My fiancée and I went this case and could not stop saying wow to the view. Also the location is very close to Beckley and as many state parks as you want to hike. There is a restaurant on the ground floor and the food was pretty good. The bands were too loud to eat inside, but if that's your crowd, do it. We took part in the lobby. The food was fast, ten to fifteen minutes tops. This place is definitely a five-star place and five star price with three star rooms. The staff was very friendly and took care of everything we needed and helped to inform about the local area. I'd definitely stay here again.

Had a pleasant 3 night stay in this accommodation. It's really worth their prices. Very good smiling staff, especially Andy, who was at the reception, welcomed with full energy at the time of check-in at midnight! Rooms, washrooms are clean, no surprises!

Absolutely LOVED Janie and our room! I wouldn't say the room's gone. We booked for Labor Day weekend for our anniversary and the reception was nice. Surely we cannot control the loud guests, and the amount of alcohol they have consumed, or that each vehicle takes 2 points because they drive their side by side and on the main roads. BUT the Grill/Pub overhead was out of control. We wanted to sit on the deck to eat our food and they came out with whom I suspected was their son? And he started to get our waitress and the others. We thought we had to get in, but it seemed like the waitress had met him and sweated back. They smoke and curse 5 not even feet from our table; braggen over who they have slept with. I understand that I have to smoke outside, but they have no mind or attention to the guests who try to eat and a quiet meal right next to them. Overall, they were not very respectful of people or their surroundings. Janie was absolutely incredible. So helpful and friendly. The rooms have only blinds, no curtains; that you can see through them closed. The shower was hot, and the design was simple, but very cute. Bed was comfortable. We could be back, but definitely NOT on vacation. And we'll probably want to eat somewhere else.

Although I understand that the area has an Appalachian vibe and a bit of a rustic feel, the accommodations at the lodge resort felt quite dated. On the positive side, the staff deserves an A+ for their helpfulness, professionalism, and overall accommodating demeanor. Cleanliness also receives an A+; while the decor may be outdated, everything was spotless. The pub has a comfortable atmosphere and is reasonably priced, earning a B+. The food also rates a B+, with the Fried Pickles being a standout! They were perfectly fried and well-seasoned. The burger was juicy, meaty, and well-prepared, complemented by great frozen fries. The Shrimp and Grits, however, could have benefitted from more grits and less sauce. The dish was labeled as Creole, and although the shrimp were cooked well, the "Trinity" sauce came off as a bit off-putting. It tasted like a watered-down Worcestershire sauce, but oddly enough, it worked in an unrefined way. On the downside, which the staff can't control, the rooms are quite outdated. The bed sheets kept slipping off the plastic mattress cover, and the overly plush mattress, combined with a lack of support, meant you would sink quite low when sitting on the bed. Additionally, the absence of TV service was disappointing—there's no cable, and while I’m fine with streaming, the lack of bandwidth made it impossible to watch a show. This really left me feeling frustrated, leading me to give the room quality an F.
