Schuster's Tavern Located At The Gunstock Inn Resort

The service was absolutely dreadful. We arrived around 6:30 PM, and there were only about five or six tables occupied. After waiting for roughly ten minutes, the waitress came over, but she abruptly left mid-order to deliver someone else's food. We placed our drink orders, which took another ten minutes to arrive. When we finally ordered our food, 25 minutes later, the waitress casually informed my husband that they were out of the dish he had requested. She then proceeded to bring out everyone else's meals, while my husband's food arrived a full 25 minutes after we had all finished eating. When he asked for his meal to be boxed up, she left the boxes but didn’t bother to offer any assistance or compensation for the mistakes made by her and the kitchen. We spent over $100 on a meal that was just disappointing all around. Having just bought a house in the area, we will definitely not be returning. This place needs a complete overhaul if they want to succeed in the service industry.

Schuster's Tavern feels like a time capsule transporting you back to the 1980s. The food, decor, and ambiance have remained untouched over the years. They even featured a lounge act performing classic 80s rock songs on an electric keyboard. On a Friday night, we were one of just three parties in the entire restaurant, which felt a bit disheartening. Overall, the service was friendly and the establishment was clean, but both the food and atmosphere felt quite outdated. You could approach it with a sense of nostalgia and kitsch, or, like us, embrace the experience and enjoy the trip down memory lane.

The atmosphere is very laid-back, but the prices are quite steep, especially for the specials. While the food is good, it doesn’t justify the high cost. Additionally, our waitress forgot to serve the salad that we had paid for.
