Feedback gevenIt's not the staffs fault, it's the set up. One person on a till taking orders and making the drinks means it takes about 20 minutes to order and take a seat. Then you have to wait 10mins if you're lucky for any hot food you've ordered. Didn't used to be like that, one person taking the order and another making the drinks is what's needed. Had to ask staff if they could restock the cakes as almost nothing left. New cakes came out within a minute, just noone keeping an eye on stock that needs replenished throughout the day. No plates once the cakes arrived. No water in the dispenser. You have to keep asking for stuff and the poor people on the tills getting interrupted all the time to sort these issues when they're already doing everything else.
I'm not sure how this restaurant operates all day! We placed our order at 11:30 am, waited for 10 minutes, and then a server informed us they were out of what we wanted. She suggested we choose something else. It's disappointing that by 11:30, they should know what items are unavailable, especially with such a limited menu. This lack of preparedness was quite concerning.
The wait times are unacceptable. There are not enough staff serving customers and hardly anyone is clearing tables. Many customers are leaving without buying anything. The manager showed no interest in addressing the issue. It seems like M&S needs to improve their café operations, as this is a recurring problem in my experience at every M&S café.
Sat for over half an hour at the back of the cafe. All the tables are piled high with dirty trays of dishes. An elderly gent was brought his meal when the adjoining table had three trays on it. The server left them and he started eating next to the tower. I removed them as he should not have to eat with that next to his elbow.
The staff in this cafe are professional, exceptionally pleasant and helpful. They had run out smashed avocado toast at 1pm! It took a long time to get our order (nearly half an hour) and they appeared short staffed. Unsure if I would visit again.
