The Yiros and souvla was pretty average. It lacked flavour and taste. Definitely not the best place for Yiros in Melbourne that I've ever eaten.
The food here is such a disappointment. Was looking forward to a nice souvlaki but was let down badly. The mean was normal tasting. I could see that the lettuce used was looking limp. The service size is rather generous but I rather quality than quantity.
Every time I head down to Melbourne I go out of my way to find this place ! It was pointed out to me by a good mate many years ago and I am glad he did. Sure its pretty basic stuff and all I order is a basic OPEN Souvlaki - the quality of the meat is outstanding, cooked to perfection, fresh salad etc etc. You are certainly spoilt for choice in old Melbourne town when it comes to dining out & I wouldnt say this is a 'sit down' / 'have a nice romantic dinner' style of joint but they sure know how to whip up some cracking easy & cheap food.I'll be back for sure!
Used to be that when you were hungry ;later in the evenings you could always rely on a great souvlaki at Lambs. How things have changed! Sure there was plenty of meat and sauce and veggies...but it was ****. The whole thing fell apart in the bag. The meat was sliced too thick, into chunks, not shavings, and the lamb was very chewy. The sauce had no real flavour to it, not youghurt, not garlic....nothing. The tomatoes were sliced too thick, as was the onion. In the end I at it as separate components out of the bag. To add insult to injury, it did not sit well either and sleep was hard to find with an upset stomach and a thirst that would not be quenched.
