Piano Man, Paul Glass, is one of Melbourne's finest. On Friday nights he is Star billing at the Umbrella Lounge Cafe in suburban Glen Huntly Rd Elsternwick.Just as in the song, the regular crowd comes in. Some like Harry even accompany Paul on vocals. Playing melodies from Billy Joel, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Beatles, Righteous Bros to name just a few. Patrons come for the live music, the unique home made Georgian food, coffee, tea, supper, to forget about life for awhile.In the finest tradition of The Trobador and Green Man, the Umbrella Lounge Cafe is host to the Jazz Trio on Thursday, Paul Glass-Friday and on Sunday's a new duet act, soon to be announced.Neither Paul Glass or Umbrella Lounge Cafe sought this review.

We had such a great night at Umbrella Lounge, 4 of us were there and we had the Georgian feast. My goodness we were NOT disappointed! The food was incredible and there was heaps of it, definitely value for money. Huge variety in the food and all of us left very full and very happy. Thanks Umbrella Lounge team - what a great night. Just sad we don't live closer! Open up in Auckland please!

Check out this place if you're keen to try something different and support the wonderful Temo doing great things in Melbourne's hugely competitive restaurant scene. Try some traditional Georgian food cooked by a local, the Georgian way, and served with the biggest smile going around. Read his story at the front of the menu and be sure to introduce yourself. This is a pleasant, clean restaurant with live music on some evenings (especially Thursdays!). It's big so don't be concerned if it looks a little empty, you will be welcomed with open arms and looked after perfectly.

I was taken to this experience by a work colleague and entered an old world charm. To be honest I wasn't sure about it at all and the slower service (the waiter was also the cook and the owner!!) made me wonder too! The smaller older gentleman with a real emphasis on gentleman looked like he would have been better suited for the film Lord of the Rings!Then the food started to arrive and it was an absolute delight, the unique spices used, I have never tasted such intriguing flavours. Everything surpassed my expectations including the final cost of $75 for 2 really big guys both complaining of having eaten too much (and we left some)!
