It is a great value family restaurant, and the service is uber friendly, smiles all around. We started by sharing the Buckets of 2 coronas with 6 King prawns. At $21.90 it was great value. You struggle in most places just to get the Coronas for that sort of money. And the prawns, they were super fresh, easy to peel and the best we have tasted. The hot rock steaks were really good with plenty of chips, salad, potato and onion to share. Our friendly host, the owner, even threw in some gratis Kim chi!We enjoyed the whole experience very much, and if we were Gold Coastians we would certainly be making it a regular stop.
We walked in mid week, after wandering around Cavill Ave and the night markets unsuccessfully looking for something that caught our eye.We both had the signature seafood boat, and shared some bubbles. The food was fresh, well cooked, and abundant. Oysters soooo sweet, crab and Moreton bay bug both well set, but still juicy and the sashimi grade salmon was lovely. Fish two ways, mussels, pickled occy and some calamari, a skewer of juicy prawns and chips/salad along with dipping sauces. The owner came to ask us if we would like to try some of his stash of special blackberry fortified wine - of course, thank you! Also very nice.Well worth a visit and at $27 per head, depending on if you've got ravenous teens, better value than a $79 seafood buffet.
We had the "Seafood Boat" for dinner tonight, which is the signature dish for this restaurant in Surfers Paradise. It was truely a taste experience and something for the eye. Very well presented indeed! A real nice and relaxed admosphere, a little out of the rush, yet one street away from Cavil Avenue, where everything happen in this great suburb of the famous Gold Coast.
The Hot Rock Grill is at the front of Beachcomber Resort so it was down the lift and a few short paces. We were seated at a table overlooking the street and made our selection from the menu. You have to order at the bar.The girl was new and had to get help to answer some questions and take the order. She had to call someone in to make my coffee. My wife ordered a Chicken Schnitzel, Chips and Salad and I ordered Steak, Chips and Salad. The steak arrived sizzling on a "hot rock" and you cook to your liking. Also on the rock was a slice of onion, zucchini and a boiled potato with garlic butter inside. The chips were freshly made using fresh oil.The steak was very tender. My wife enjoyed her Chicken Schnitzel and Chips.A very filling meal at a good price.
Not good. Cheap tasteless bacon, two small undercooked fried eggs on cheap Coles toasted bread. Cleanliness of the restaurant was dubious.
