Le Coin Charentais - Gondeville

We visited here on recommended by friends who recently moved to the opposite. we were told we had desserts, so decided on the 25 € menu as it was the best worth. I had the seafood gratin nabeby had the foie grass, both were absolutely delicious. we then had the steak tart, which was delicious again, but we found the portion size too much. we felt very guilty because we sent a large part of our main course back to the kitchen: we had the tiramisu and wail with musella for dessert, both delicious again. when we wanted to pay the bill, they only charged us for the 19 € menu, because they thought we didn't enjoy the steak. we tried to explain in our very broken French, but went away with very full dumb and very happy faces. for those who have said that the service is slow, that is likely true when they are in a hurry, but they can not hurry a good meal and it was good the short waiting time, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Very welcoming and a beautiful pizza wine. a lively little place with a great ambiente and character. we thought we were a little expensive, but overall a Fab-Mahl.

Went on spec...... Very clean reasonable service with everything cooked to order .... Standard of food very good.... Without being over priced.

The food was OK, although portions of duck were measly and the steak was gristly. The wrong orders arrived first time round for pizzas, and generally service was hard to attract and waiting staff needed reminding on many occasions. They were friendly and meant well,...but just not efficient, which was frustrating, when it was not a cheap dinner, and the restaurant was not overwhelmingly busy. The house wine tasted cheap. We left feeling rather let down, as this was the final night of our holiday. Generally speaking, we are keen to tip well to recognise the often low salaries of waiting staff. However, we did not do so on this occasion, as it would make a nonsense of the principle. We feel there are much more rewarding establishments in which to dine in the area.

Lovely food. We ate here on numerous occasions and the food was consistent as was the service. Great salads and duck. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Great with children. Would highly recommend.
