Feedback gevenElk Island Winery is by far our favorite winery in Virginia!! We travel a great distance to come here. The wines are fantastic, but their sangria and other seasonal drinks are off the hook!! We love it when Christa and Daniel are there working when we go. They are so sweet and friendly, that they make us feel like family. We are going to join their wine club today. This winery will not disappoint!! ????????
My husband, daughter, son-in-law and their new baby had been hankering to get back to Elk Island Winery since our visit a few months before. (In fact our daughter and son-in-law had participated in an open invitation to assist in the vineyard, and couldn 't wait to come back to see the fruit of their labors! This is a completely unassuming tasting room where everyone can feel the welcoming touches and homey unpretentious atmosphere that has been created for optimalcomfort and enjoyment. The farm is picturesque and we especially enjoyed our afternoon on the porch tasting most of the varietals they offer!...Sue Anne even let us taste one of their lesser known wines that is not on their regular tastingmenu....and it was incredible!....In fact, EVERY wine is really good!...and the Klinefelter family that run the vineyard and the tasting room have elevated customer service to an art form! But, by far the most AMAZING thing about thiswinery are the prices! They are all extremely affordable, which is incredibly surprising at this quality! We will be back often and keeping our fingers crossed for a love match between my granddaughter and Daniele and Crista 's adorableson!!
We have been visiting Elk Island Winery for several years, so that speaks volumes! The setting is beautiful, especially when seated on the back deck overlooking the beautiful acreage. Family members who own the winery are there to greet you with a smile and conversation. And last but not least, the wines are fantastic! Can?t wait to taste the new varietals in four years.
Having never been here before, we were pleasantly surprised when we visited this quaint winery nestled into a Goochland hillside. The wines were quite good, particularly the sweeter, non-dry varieties. They have a delicious wine slushie, too! The ambiance is very homey, as the winery tasting area is out of a renovated house. You can sip your wine from atop a beautiful sun deck or sit under the covered patio in the shade of a screened-in porch. The staff was knowledgeable, pleasant, and happy to help in any way. We will return!
Last winery of the day and I liked these the best. Norton is good. And the Towpath. And the Petit Verdot. These had more of the powerful taste that I expect from them. The other wineries I visited this day were lacking that power. The Terrior Red was OK. It was more of a sweet easy to drink wine. Everyone was friendly. I had a great time.
