It was a very crowded place located on a small street with minimal parking. It does not have an air conditioned room and is very crowded. You have to find yourself a place and occupy it as fast as you can. We visited for lunch in the month of may so it was really hot. All four of us had biriyani (quail/kadai and chicken). It is served as a short grained rice (zeeraga samba rice) with a gravy to go with it. It was quite tasty but in comparison to the small mess-like eateries in Chennai, it was not up to the mark although the price tag was as high as those in Chennai.'Mutton chukka' (fried/dry mutton/lamb) did have more bones than meat on it in a very tiny plate with an expensive price tag and so did the chicken masala. The quantity of the side dishes seemed very less in comparison to the price we paid. However, we were later informed that we should have opted for the non-vegetarian meals instead of the biriyanis as that was their specialty. The toilets in this place were surprisingly clean and if you happen to be passing through Salem, it would be a good place to stop to refresh and have a bite. There are separate toilets, both for men and women. We may not visit this place again but it was a good experience at that point.
I like the food very much. Its my one of the favorite non vegetarian hotel in salem. we can go with our family
Selvi mess Located Centre of the city ,.Taste is good if you like pepper heat. A lot of variety and good service. Place is small and located on a small street. Parking is tricky but the hassle is worth the food. Left the place happy with a satisfied ,.over all Value for Money,.
Good food but costly for Salem. Less crowded on weekends and very near to Salem town station. Nice south Indian non veg food
Have heard great things about selvi mess and got to visit the place the week. The food is worth the hype amazing biryani parotta kadai dishes. Very crowded on weekends as almost everyone passing though Salem would have a stop over at selvi mess. The staff is very efficient and courteous. I would highly recommend this once
