The Victualler - Gosport

We were really disappointed because the restaurant was closed, despite having made a reservation.

The food was top-notch and beautifully presented, with a menu that didn't overwhelm us, allowing the four of us to enjoy a hearty meal!

I made a reservation for lunch at this restaurant and received a confirmation on my phone, along with a reminder that I would still be attending. I replied to confirm my participation. However, when I arrived, I was greeted by a sign on the door stating they were closed for a private event. I called the restaurant, and they explained that they were closed due to this event and apologized for the mistake in their reservations. Thankfully, I was able to find a table at a nearby restaurant on short notice, even on a Saturday. Later, I reached out to the manager to express my disappointment, but she attributed the issue to a mistake with "open tables." I found her apology inadequate, especially given that I had received a confirmation. The manager didn't seem particularly concerned about the mix-up, and I believe I deserve some form of compensation for this significant error on their part. My son, who I hadn't seen in seven weeks, and his friend had come to visit from Portsmouth, making this occasion feel even more special. Overall, I am very disappointed with the experience.

Unfortunately the place was practically empty, which probably contributed to the lack of atmosphere. the service in the restaurant was terrible, but there were only 1 young young who took food and drink orders and then brought everything to the table. we had waited long!. but there were many bar staff I didn't think was right. eating was in order, not amazing. starter was a little strange I huge glass chicken liver pat with a small piece of brot?! I heard good things about the place, but found the whole experience drab and disappointing. would not go back or recommend for eating. You may only drink if you drink with a lot.

Booked a table on line for 1945 arrived to be told there would be an hour wait ! Left went next door to Artys great food and arrive in there
