We had a wine flight and selected a glass each from that, and a couple of shared plates. An absolutely fantastic Sunday afternoon. Pleased we booked, it was busy.
Beautiful setting food was good and presentation awesome. We had the lamb flaps and hummus for entree, flavors where great. Venison main was delightful. The cauliflower main was under whelming though I was expecting something amazing for the price considering it was just cauliflower. Service was ok, we felt that we were being rushed. We were expected to know what we wanted to drink within a minute of sitting down. I politely informed staff I'll choose my wine when I have decided on my dinner options. Why they were in such a rush we are not sure, as we had booked a two and a half hour slot,so we could enjoy our meal and wine, without rushing before going onto the Great Hall for a play. Dessert Apple Tarte Tatin was to die for. Funnily it was the only time we were not being rushed might have been because it took 25min to prepare). Our wine was the Pegasus MAESTRO Merlot Malbec. Which I might say is highly recommend.
Love stopping by the Cellar Door for some wonderful food or to try a thoughtfully curated wine flight. Not sure what the last two reviewers are on about as the staff are extremely professional and knowledgeable and there are definitely signs posted all around that ask you to wait to be seated. If you’re wanting to check it out I highly recommend making a booking so that you don’t miss out on getting a table as they are quite the popular spot (and rightly so! Can’t wait to return again soon!
Really amazing place for a date or a chill evening tasting wines. Top notch great selection of cheeses and the wine flights are unique and really let you try a range of wines depending on your taste. The only let down was the sweet corn hummus, the flavours come together to create something quite boring. Will be back to try the mains one day soon!
