Restaurant Au Comte d'Ornon - Gradignan

We stayed at the hotel and decided to eat in the restaurant as it was easy and had good reviews. The starters were right: foi gras and a poched egg with a traditional sauce, this last was quite bland, I had to... repair it even with salt and pepper. Burger was good, good meat. Only the thing is that we asked “saignant” and it was more “Bleu” (yet very crude) but it was anyway good. The wok with shrimp was delicious, but again there were literally 3 shrimps, in my opinion too few. Service was friendly although it was a whole house and was a little slow.

Obviously a decent cook on the grounds and a competent sommelier. The food was original and well prepared and beautifully presented. Good wine list, cheap prices

Strange. The restaurant was at the hotel. or was the hotel in the restaurant? Not sure what came first. The food was excellent, a menu selection and a buffet. There were many people around, but not many were there. seemed like there was a lot to make it busy. I'd come back, probably not when I left. If it was local... probably not, but I would say there was an attempt.

Booked dinner on Friday night otherwise the restaurant was full. I ordered a la carte. My husband chose a 3-course menu that had enough choices. Wine was good. We were very happy with our meal. It was the best meal during our ride... drive from the Netherlands to Spain.

If you don't like French food, this restaurant is not for you. If you do, the food is excellent: fish and meat specials every night with excellent sauces and some pretty amazing desserts. The menu is somewhat limited, but it is all made in house.
